Once when I was cooking dinner, two-year-old Cade bumped his head on the cupboard, and started to whimper. I was in the middle of adding meat to a pan, so I glanced down to see if he was OK, then looked back to the stove. Lindsay did the same thing, glancing over from her homework. Cole, who was absorbed in his trains nearby, just kept playing.
So then I heard Cade say to himself, “You Ok, Buddy?”
Sometimes we just need someone to ask, don’t we? Just a smidgen of concern can take away the sting.
Let’s look around today, with a heart of compassion. Let’s ask somebody, “You OK?” If we’re too busy to do that much… maybe we’re too busy.
And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” (Luke 7:13)
