How to use the book

We think the best way for your teen(s) to go through this book is with YOU! We hope that moms, grandmas, aunties will not only pick up the book for a teen they love, but have conversations with her along the way. The book is also a great resource for youth groups, mom and daughter groups, or one on one mentoring. We’ve put together a conversation starter for you to download here.

Would you share a photo with me? The first one is my daughter, Lindsay and me—the day I gave her this book, which is dedicated to her (and from Lee to her daughters.) Send me your mother-daughter photo or your teen group with the book, and I’ll feature it here!

for Grown-up Comparison Girls:

Are you exhausted by Comparison?

On social media, in the neighborhood, at church, or the school drop-off lane, do you push yourself to prove that you measure up, then feel ashamed when you don’t? Measuring yourself against others isn’t healthy. And it isn’t God’s plan. In fact, the way of Jesus is completely upside down from this measure-up world. He invites us to follow him and be restored to freedom, confidence, and joy.

Join Shannon as she shares what she has discovered about her own measure-up fears and get-ahead pride. With her trademark humor and straightforward honesty, she’s created a six-week study, exploring the conversations Jesus had and stories he shared with people who—like us—were comparing themselves.

Leave measure-up comparison behind and connect with those around you by choosing Jesus’s me-free way of living: lifting others up and pouring yourself out!

what our friends are Saying:

We wish we had this book when we were teens!

Comparison is such a deep struggle for so many women well into adulthood! And the seeds are planted so young.

What an impact this book will have on teens, steering them to Christ, and showing them how to place their worth in Him alone, not in what others say.

Kristen Clark & Bethany Beal

Girl Defined ministry

Oh, how I wish I could go back to my teens and open up this book!

This read is going to break chains and set teen girls free.

Even as I was reading the pages as a twentysomething, the words touched my heart and reminded me of my purpose and what God says about me.

Hope Reagan Harris

Author of "This Is My Happy Place"

Shannon and Lee have written a beautiful book filled with relatable stories, personal prayers, and on-point teaching.

It is a rich gift to this generation of teen girls—really, to any woman who’s humble enough to pick it up and learn
to live ‘me-free.

Paula Hendricks-Marsteller

Author of "Confessions of a boy-Crazy girl"

This book isn’t afraid to go deep and get to the heart of issues like body image, gender identity, and comparison.

Our girls need need the whole truth of the gospel to see the why behind their struggle. This book does just that. Comparison Girl for Teens graciously points girls to the only one who can cure all our comparison issues and insecurities: Jesus.
